TUE #2: How I Balance My 9–5 and My Side Hustle (Without Burning Out)
Hi friend,
I get asked this a lot on how I manage my full-time job and my side hustle.
First, I want to say this clearly that I am extremely grateful for my job.
I work at a startup that gives me the flexibility and trust to build something of my own and that makes a huge difference.
Along with my 8-hour job, I spend around 4 hours on my side hustle.
On the side, I am a creator on LinkedIn and X, and I also help founders & busy professionals grow their presence on these platforms.
It is not easy. But it is possible.
Here are 5 ways that help me manage both:
1/ Communication with your Company
I work at a startup where communication is open. There is nothing to hide. My team knows I am building something of my own. This makes things much easier because there is trust.
2/ Systems over Motivation
I focus on finishing important tasks first thing in the morning. I try to keep meetings minimal and reduce distractions like social media during work hours. This helps me stay productive without feeling overwhelmed.
3/ Scheduling and Batching
I create content in batches for myself and my clients. I am still improving at this, but it helps me save time and focus better on creativity instead of rushing every day.
4/ Clear Boundaries
When I am working, I am fully focused on work. When I switch to my side hustle, I give my full attention there. Mixing both at the same time only creates stress and reduces the quality of output.
5/ Energy Management over Time Management
Some days you will not have the same energy, and that is okay. I don’t try to do everything every day. I focus on what actually matters and give myself space to rest when needed.
Managing both is not about doing more.
It is about doing the right things consistently.
And most importantly, it is about building something without burning out in the process.
You don’t need perfect balance. You just need clarity on what matters right now.
Start small. Stay consistent. And give it time.
All the best!
Love,
Krupa
