TUE #1: Writing Consistently for 9 Months Made me a Solid Side Income
Hi friend,
I started writing on LinkedIn in October 2023, and by June 2024, I started making money.
I started LinkedIn with a simple “why” — to help people through my struggles and failures. I thought my personal stories might help someone.
So I began creating content consistently.
At first, nothing worked. I barely got any likes or comments. There were days when I felt like no one was even reading this, and I should quit.
But I kept going. Slowly, things started to change.
I began seeing more reach on my posts. People started commenting that my content was helping them. I even got DMs from people telling me how my content had impacted them.
This was completely unexpected.
How I Started Getting Paid
1/ 1:1 Calls
I write a lot about personal and professional growth. Fortunately, I have been around successful entrepreneurs, CEOs, freelancers, and motivational speakers, so I was always taught to maintain a positive outlook on life. That mindset is naturally reflected in my writing.
Soon, people started reaching out to me.
I wrote about career growth, leadership, and mindset. Readers wanted to apply these ideas in their own lives, and they began asking for 1:1 calls.
At first, I said yes to everyone. I took calls for free because I genuinely wanted to help.
But the requests kept increasing, and I didn’t have the time. With my full-time job, I could only take a limited number of calls. I needed a filter. So, I added a minimum price.
This is the first time someone paid me for a 30-minute call, and I was shocked. That was the moment I realized: people genuinely want help, and they’re happy to pay if you can show them value.
2/ Monthly Consulting
Some of these calls turned into something bigger.
People started asking, “Can we do this every month?”
And that’s how I got my first consulting clients.
This gave me a stable side income.
3/ Brand Deals
The third way money came in was brand deals.
Brands reached out to me for:
- Collaborations
- Promotions
- Awareness
At first, I didn’t believe it. Why would a brand pay me?
They did. Because when you build trust with an audience, brands want to tap into it.
What started as simple writing slowly turned into income streams I had never planned for.
What I Learned From Writing for 9 Months
1/ Consistency Matters More Than Talent
When I started, I wasn’t a writer. My posts weren’t perfect, and most of them didn’t even perform, but I showed up.
Every single day. No matter what.
That consistency built trust, and that trust brought opportunities.
2/ People Pay for Value, Not Degrees
I don’t have a fancy certificate in coaching, and I didn’t do a writing course, and I’m not an “expert.”
But I had stories and experiences which people connected with.
That connection created value, and value is what people pay for.
3/ Opportunities Come When You Show Up
I didn’t have a big plan when I started, and I wasn’t even thinking about money.
But writing consistently made me visible, and because I was visible, opportunities came.
If I had waited for the “perfect time”, then none of this would have happened.
My Advice to You If you’re overthinking content creation, then don’t.
You don’t need:
- Thousands of followers
- Perfect writing
- Or a perfect time.
You just need to start.
Your story matters. Your lessons matter, and someone out there is waiting to hear them.
So if you’ve been waiting for a sign to write — this is it.
Start today. Your story might change someone else’s life, and it might just change yours too.
All the best!
Love,
Krupa
